Open to Suggestions

Okay, okay, I am stumped. Can you imagine-- me, Christine, stumped?

I am ready to start making Alex's adoption video and I can't find "the perfect" song.

Please, please, please give me some ideas.

Many thanks ahead of time!

When you belive - Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston
...Allthough some of the lines may not completely match the circumstances, most of the words fit wonderfully...
Oh, and Alex looks amazing, he seems to fit right in!

I used "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack for our first child's adoption. Although the song is about a relationship, it can apply to a relationship between a mother and her adoptive child. It brings tears to my eyes as I sing the song with joy. You can look up the lyrics on the internet...of course. I admire your strength and love reading your blog! We are in the process of adopting our 2nd child from Russia - just waiting on our court date.

Christian artist, Wayne Watson, wrote the song "A Place for You" about his own experience of adopting a child from overseas. The lyrics say it all.

Holy Water by Big & Rich - not really about adoption but I heard it for like 1,000 time the other day and it took on a whole new meaning.

My Wish by Rascal Flatts, Use Somebody by Kings of Leon, Celebration by Kool and the Gang , I Dare You to Move by Switchfoot, orThe Promise by Tracy Chapman (this one just seems perfect to me). Let me know if you'd like me to send you any of these.

Best wishes.

Christine, I was absolutely stumped by this one, until I saw MoonDog's suggestion of "Return to Pooh Corner". That song makes me cry whenever I hear it...in a most joyous way. Long story, mostly about my son Christopher "Robin"....oops, tearing up. Kenny Loggins and Amy Grant. Beautiful voices.

I can't wait to see the video. You are all amazing.
Blessings!

Hanging by a moment by Lifehouse or I can't help falling in love with you

"When Love Takes You In" will probably always be my absolute favorite. But, it's followed closely by "Looking At You". These are the two songs that are our family's "adoption songs".
"Looking At You" makes me cry every single time I hear it!

The only two I can think of is "Somewhere Out There" from An American Tail and "Someone's Waiting for You" from Disney's The Rescuers ... If I ever adopted, I would use the one from The Rescuers for sure!

Oh, BTW, I moved my blog. I am now at http://scrapgrrl.com (I was at Multiple Blessings before)

Here are the Lyrics:

Be brave little one.
Make a wish for each sad little tear.
Hold your head up though no one is near
Someone's waiting for you.
Don't cry little one.
There'll be a smile where a frown use to be
You'll be part of the love that you see.
Someone's waiting for you.
Always keep a little prayer in your pocket
and you're sure to see the light.
Soon there'll be joy and happiness
and your little world will be bright
Have faith little one
'Til your hopes and your wishes come true.
You must try to be brave little one.
Someone's waiting to love you

We used "I am Free" by the Newsboys. Love it - and our little guy says "That's my song!" whenever he hears it!

I second "This is Home"

If you choose "When You Believe" please use some non Mariah/Whitney version, like the original movie version or Shimon Craimer's. http://www.homeofhope.co.uk/Music/CD2/22-When%20You%20Believe.mp3

I think Whitney and Mariah sing that song beautifully, just not upliftingly.

I also third "This is home".

It is called At the Cross and is sung by Hillsongs (Darlene). If you need the mp3 of it let me know I'll email it to you.

I have an adoption CD called Do You Have a Little Love to Share. It has lots of good songs, but my two favorites are... We're All the Same Inside and Do You Love Me as Your Own?

"These little wonders" from the movie Meet the Robinsons.

I only know the lyrics and not the actual song name for this next one. (I could look it up I guess! :) )

"Oh I wonder what God was thinking when he created you,
I wonder if he knew everything I would need,
Because he made all my dreams come true. He must have heard everything I've been praying,
And knew everything I would need,
When God made you, he must have been thinking about me."

I hope you find the perfect song...Your family just looks so happy now that you are all home together again. Congrats!

Christine - this is Mark and Missy in Ukraine... Can you send me an email? mrmarkmark1962@aol.com I'd like to chat with you and/or hubby for a little bit. :) We haven't heard from you - how are things going ?? I really wished that we could have met you while you were here... The SDA appointment - and having to go to Kramatorsk right away made it impossible for us to met up with you.

Thanks Christine... Mark & Missy from RR

If you don't have it already, google the "Spirit of Adoption" CD. It is WONDERFUL! Most of my video montages for Anara are set to them.

a gal in our adoption group made a video of our children and used the song "I hope you dance". I have come to love this song!

here are the lyrics~

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

I'm late and I haven't read all the other comments but Baby You Belong is my favorite pick, we used it for Mary's

There's a reason why
you can look up every night
and every star in heaven's in it's place
There's a reason why
the full moon pulls the tide
and the waves roll into a shore that always waits
And just like them
baby you belong
baby you belong
Nothin's ever been so meant to be
or ever felt so right to me
Every single part of me believes
baby you belong
oh baby you belong
There really is no mystery
i think anyone can see
That baby you belong
with me
There's a voice inside
and i heard it promise me
When you came along
Id know you by heart
like a familiar song
Every word is telling me
that the time has finally come
Now here you are
And i know for sure
oh, baby you belong
baby you belong
Nothin's ever been so meant to be
or ever felt so right to me
Every single part of me believes
baby you belong
oh, baby you belong
There really is no mystery
I think anyone can see
that baby you belong
Like the sun belongs up in the morning sky
and for at least another million reasons why
Baby you belong
oh, baby you belong
Nothin's ever been so meant to be
or ever felt so right to me
Baby you belong
oh, baby you belong
Nothin's ever been so meant to be
or ever felt so right to me
Every single part of me believes that
baby you belong
oh baby, baby, baby you belong
There really is no mystery
I think anyone can see
That baby you belong
with me
Baby you belong with me

Butterfly by Mariah Carey

Mark Shultz has another one it's specifically about adoption and written to his own birth mother about how she gave him everything by making the decision she did for him. I think it's absolutely amazing. Not sure of the nam right now though...track 4 on broken and beautiful album.

Debra Wright - wonderful Christian adoption songs (two of them, one is a newer release). Google her.
