But, before we left, I made sure to get pictures of Alex's whole groupa.
And his best friend Leeza.
Then we came in quickly feed him lunch and get him dressed into the clothes we brought him.
He ate a broth like soup, mushy rice with carrots, and eekra which is an eggplant stew.
Before we left, we gave the kids their toy phones. They loved them and could hardly believe that they didn't have to share!

While he was eating, I took pictures of where he slept. His bed was the one with the blue blanket. Notice the word "was"?

One caretaker named Nadya had a very hard time-- as did Alex. They certainly seemed to have a special bond. She cried and nearly followed us down the stairs. She was so sweet. I guess I am to blame for her tears---- when I asked if I could trade an extra piece of clothing I brought for the undershirt he had been wearing is when she started to cry. She completely understood why I wanted it--- and I have it!
We walked home and gave him a bath, and now we are resting. I really should go. :)

So very very happy for you.
How did he sleep?
Oh that must be the best feeling! I'm happy for you!
So very excited! I could not wait to check on you this morning. Praying for a smooth transition and trip back home for you. Thank you for sharing this blog!
I am so happy for all of you! When I woke up this morning, I came right to my computer and opened your blog----this is what I was hoping to see!!! Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers during the trip home and through the adjustment period ahead.
Congrats!
Melissa
The best day ever for an orphan! That is what I called it. It was such a free feeling for me too. The first thing I did was get him something to eat and then go and give him a hot shower. Snuggle up together and enjoy!!!! Congratulations! Next stop, home to see all your other blessings! I am sure you just can't wait. I can't wait to see pictures.
Hey Christine,
It's so good! Georgia and I have been reading every day and praying for you. I remember those feelings too of being sad for the caregivers and how they must feel and then happy of having the children come with you and be yours forever - finally. We still keep in touch with our orphanage folks and the children's main caregiver and the orphanage director came to visit with us last spring. It was very special kind of like you bringing Dennis back to see his former caregivers. I bet that was really special for them to see how well he's doing.
Bless you all! We'll keep praying.
Take care,
Barry & Georgia Vaughn
This is wonderful news! I know you will all have a very restful night knowing your babies are at "home" with full bellies. Slava Bogu!
Congratulations! Hope the rest of your trip is smooth sailing.
Hurray! The labour pains are over, and you've finally "given birth!" Congrats to you and your entire family :o)
Oh the emotions! I wonder how Alex feels...everything so new, the sights and sounds outside of the orphanage. Its such a wonderful, happy day for you all, yet I feel sad for some reason, I guess for Nadya. I am not good with "change".
Anyway,I look forward to hearing about the time you have left there and how Alex is handling it all!
Have A Great Time Together-

Yeah!! Praise God! He's yours! Can't wait to see him with the rest of his family! I know they are waiting anxiously!
Happy Gotcha day! Hug Alex for us extra tight!
You are such a wise forward thinking mom! We knew Z's personal stuff was getting lost in the community barrels so we had to sneak some of his personal stuff (not the orphanages!) into our bag knowing some day he'd be glad he had them. Now they sit on a "memory" shelf in his room and he loves looking at them and taking them down to play every now and then!
I must be nice to know that someone loved Alex so much before he got a family.:) Congratulations again!
Amy
WOO HOO! So glad this day has come. Just a few more days now and you will be home.
Woo hoo.
When I woke up this morning my thought was that Alex is free and in the arms of his mama. Amen.
How did it all go?
I can understand how hard it was for Alexsey, his loving caregivers and you. What an emmotinal time.
Congratulations! This is wonderful - hope you have a calm & safe journey home.
Safe journey home..
Doesn't it make you so, so glad to know he is loved. And she is lucky because I know you'll continue to let her know how he is doing.
Congratulations!
